- Be on time for every class and be ready to start class with necessary materials (pens, binder, paper, textbook, etc.) when the buzzer sounds or class is ready to begin. School policy dictates that students remain in the classroom as much as possible during class time. Trips to the washroom, lockers, etc. will be on an emergency basis only, with a Rescue Pass for junior high students.
- Participate in class activities and discussion in a mature and meaningful manner and to accept responsibility for YOUR actions. Clean up and cooperation are parts of the regular class routine.
- Complete and submit all assignments in the proper format and on time. Assume all assignments are due at the beginning of the next class unless told otherwise. Assignments not present when marked in class may receive a score of “0”. Re-doing assignments: students will be asked to redo assignments that are not satisfactory. Students may request to re-do an assignment by immediately discussing this with Mrs. Carr. Assignment re-dos and/or late assignments must be completed within 1 week of the assignment’s original due date to be marked. Ultimately, assignments that are not handed in will receive a mark of zero.
- Assignments are generally posted in Google Classroom. Make sure you have signed up for access to this. The student is responsible for these assignments. Catch up on any work missed when absent. Please inform me if you know ahead of time that you will be absent and I will get your work together for you.
- Follow general rules of appropriate behaviour and good citizenship, including staying on task and allowing others to do so, and picking up after yourself for the benefit of others. Respect the rights of others in the classroom. Make an effort to get along with others and learn from them. A penalty of 10 push-ups, sit ups or jumping jacks for each swear will be imposed for swearing in my class or the hallways, and if you continue to curse, penalty will double.
- No food or drink is allowed in the classroom, except bottled water, unless otherwise stipulated. I may make exceptions for healthy snacks, but I won't tolerate pop, chips or chocolate bars or other junk food in class. Being late to class because you stopped in the cafeteria is not acceptable, nor is leaving your garbage anywhere but in the garbage or recycling, as applicable.
- Remain in good standing academically, act according to classroom rules, and demonstrate acceptable standards of courtesy and respect if you expect to take part in activities which require permission to be excused from class.
- Grades are updated regularly on Power School, you can get sign in information from our office.
- Personal electronics are not needed in my classes. Please leave them in your locker or put them on my desk upon arriving in the class. First offense: phone will be on the teacher's desk until the end of class, second offense: phone will remain on the teacher's desk or at the main office until the end of the school day, third offense: a parent or guardian will have to make arrangements to pick the phone up from the office, after meeting with administration.
- Computers - this class will have a variety of opportunities to work on computers. As such, there is a huge potential for off-task behaviour when students start viewing websites such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc. or playing online games during the work period. Students found using any websites deemed off-task will lose computer privileges immediately for a length of time at the discretion of the teacher. If losing computer privileges prevents you from completing your work, you must make arrangements to complete the assignment at lunch or after school. If the problem persists, students will be referred to the counsellor/administration team.
- Always challenge yourself to do your best.
- Please have a note/email or parent/guardian phone call for excused absences, lates or appointments during class time.
- Lockers are assigned to students at the beginning of the year. Please use your locker. Items left in my classroom are not protected from theft or damage and will periodically be removed from the premises.
- -->>Classroom Dismissal: Before the bell goes, students should be in your seats, have all of your materials gathered, and ensure that any mess that you have made is cleaned up. If a class is the last class of the day in that room, you will have the responsibility of stacking chairs, in the back of the classroom. You will wait for the teacher to dismiss you, as I may have further information that you require. You are NOT to gather around the door, as this will result in you being the last one allowed to leave. <<--
